Digipak Inner Pane Image Vote!!!

As you can see on the flat plan for my digipak (http://truegingera2.blogspot.co.uk/2013/03/digipak-flat-plan.html), the inner left and right pane of my digipak use images of the artist and the actress from the music video.

I have spent a lot of time looking at all the photos from my photoshoot and have narrowed it down to the top 3 for both my artist and my actress. Now all I need is your help to decide which to use.

Below you will see the top 3 photos for my artist, followed by the top five photos for my actress:

ARTIST #1

ARTIST #2

ARTIST #3

ACTRESS #1

ACTRESS #2

ACTRESS #3

Please be sure to vote on one artist and one actress photo that you think is the best. The poll that is currently up on my blog will close in 24 hours from now and then the results will be announced shortly after.

Anyway everyone that raps it up for this post.

Be sure to vote and I will see you all not time :)

Production - Digipak Back Cover Draft

below you will see the draft for the back cover of my digipak, followed by an explanation (by numbers) of how I created the back cover:

1. The font was manipulated and placed where appropriate using the same tools as before as you can see from the tools with the number 1 next to them. I pasted them (using the edit menu), used the rectangular marquee tool to remove the font, used the magic wand to eliminate the original background and then simply chose where it would be placed with cursor tool.

2. The legal information was inserted via the horizontal text tool and then rotated using the cursor tool. The copyright image (at the beginning of the legal information) was inserted via the edit menu (paste), then the background was removed using the magic wand tool and it was rotated and placed using the cursor tool.

3. The bar-code needed to retain the white background to have authenticity, so inserting it was simply a matter of pasting it in (via the edit menu) and then rotating/choosing its placement with the cursor tool.

I thought the background was self explanatory so I thought it needn't be explained (just in case though, I pasted the image in via the edit menu and then placed it using the cursor tool).

As you will see I am still maintaining the 3D effect by having the horizontal lines of the paper follow the outside of the digipak, and you will also notice that the legal information is a different font from the one used one the rest of the digipak. This is because I have noticed on various digipaks that this is often the case, most likely to have maximum legibility, and so this is why I chose "Times New Roman" for the legal information (since it's simply about law and not style, and therefore looks professional as it retains the codes that real digipaks follow).

Well that raps it up for this post guys and girls :)

Be sure to keep following my blog as always and I'll see you all next time!

Production - Digipak Spine Draft

Below you will see my draft for the spine of my digipak, followed by an explanation of how it was created:

1. Both the font and background were easily inserted onto this spine through the edit menu. Since I had already manipulated the font, and the background needed no manipulation, I simply selected the font, then selected "copy" from the edit menu, then "paste" them onto this spine.

2. To position and rotate I used the Cursor Tool. For the background I simply moved it towards the left so that the red vertical line wasn't showing, thus creating a 3D effect with the outside of the digipak, as the horizontal lines will connect around the digipak. And finally, for the font, I simply selected the font using the cursor, then moved the cursor to a diagonal corner of the font, making the cursor to change to allow me to rotate the font, thus allowing me to make it read this way instead of how it reads on the front cover of the digipak.

That raps it up for this post everybody, bu be sure to watch my blog for more updates coming soon!

Until next time :D

Production - Digipak Front Cover Draft

Below is the draft for the front cover of my Digipak:

The numbers I have added as a means of explaining how I went about creating the draft of my front cover:

1. The Custom Shape Tool was my means of creating the circle for my lure. I simply selected the tool, selected a circle from the many shapes available, and then drew a circle on my front cover.

2. The Horizontal Type Tool was my means of inputting text into the circle created for my lure. The text was inserted by selecting the tool and then simply drawing a text box within the circle, so that it would not leave the boundaries of the circle (which would make it look unprofessional) and then typing what I wanted to display.

3. The Colour Picker was how I coloured my circle the eye catching yellow it is. I did this by simply selecting the colour picker and choosing yellow whilst I was placing the circle where I wanted it. This then changed the circle from a dull black, to an outstanding yellow, thus creating the lure I wanted (one that stands out, thus catching the attention of the audience, leading them to be enticed by the lure itself, i.e. the digipak including the new music video).

4. Edit was used as my way of pasting the font for my Digipak title and the name of the artist, as I screenshot the text from "Dafont", then simply pasted it via the Edit menu, and manipulated it from there.

5. The Magic Wand Tool was my means of eliminating the white background from my Digipak title, as when it was screenshot from "Dafont" the background was white. Using the Magic Wand Tool I selected the area around the font, as well as within the font's spaces (e.g. the space inside the "D") and pressed the Delete key, thus eliminating the background and allowing my background to be seen behind it, making it look professional.

6. The Cursor Tool was incredibly useful, as whilst creating my Front Cover it allowed my to move around all of my images (i.e. the background and lure), font, etc. , to where I though it worked the most, thus allowing it to look the most professional it could.

7. Finally the Rectangular Marquee Tool, which I used to originally remove the font from my screenshots of "Dafont". When I pasted my screenshots of my font, I needed a means of taking them out of the original image, I did this y simply selecting the area around the font with this tool, and then using the Cut tool from the Edit menu, then deleting the remaining image, pasting the font and manipulating it from there, i.e. using the magic wand.

I would liek to mention that my draft differs from my flat plan, as originally I had planned a white background with black text. While I am still going to use black text, the outside of my digipak shall use a background that seems like lined paper. This fits in with the theme of writing/drawing, thus making the artists name placed where it is on the front cover seem handwritten. Not only that, but because of its position it is reminiscent of a child's school days, fitting in with the age of the girl in the music video (around 17/18 and therefore still in school) and how she is drawing on paper as students often do (even though she is drawing on blank paper).

Anyway that raps it up for this post guys and girls.

Be sure to watch my blog as more digipak updates are coming soon!

Until next time everyone.

Digipak Flat Plan

Below you will see a flat plan for my digipak, along with an explanation of how my digipak actually opens (and additional information about the material it will be constructed out of).

As you can see from my flat-plan, I want to maintain synergy throughout my Digipak through the use of the colour scheme; white backgrounds with black text, thus making my Digipak more identifiable and giving it a unique look. You may also notice the general style I have chosen for my Digipak is simplistic, this is because I believe not only that less is more, but I believe the simplistic style coupled with white and black works very well together.

Make sure to pay close attention to my blog guys and girls for all my production coming soon :)

Until next time :)

Digipak Font Choice

For the name of my Digipak ("Drawn to life") I have been looking at various fonts using the website "Dafont".

The style of font I wanted was handwritten, thus fitting in with the drawing theme in my music video and title of my Digipak.

below are my 9 favourite fonts, plus! the 10th, which is actually my own handwriting, input into my computer through the use of my graphics tablet.

Be sure to vote on your favourite on the poll that is currently up on my blog (which will end by this time tomorrow).

That's it for this post everyone, so be sure to vote and I will see you all next post :)
